A week of wonderful little moments!!

This week has been a great week at the Allison house. While nothing earth shattering has happened we have had a week of small accomplishments. Connor had his 2 week check up and the doctor said that he was great and he had no concerns about anything. What a relief. James went to the dr. appointment with me and the dr. said that James looked great as well. James also went back to school this week. I was dreading taking him because he has cried EVERY time that he has gone. With Xmas, Connor being born, and the weather James had not been to school in 4 weeks. He only goes one day a week so it seemed like forever since he had been. This week he walked right in, gave me a kiss, and said bye Mama and that was it. I'm not sure if he was just so excited to be out of the house of if he has decided that school isn't so bad. Either way, I was so proud of my big boy. I'm also so proud of Connor because he slept for 7 hours last night. That's right, 7 hours at 2 weeks. While I'm sure that will not happen every night, I will take it when it comes. He does sleep every night for 4-5 hours at a time which is wonderful. So, that is all for my bragging for now! Hope that everyone is well and thanks for checking our blog!!

Caught being a great big brother

Connor was sleeping on the couch the other day and James was playing on the floor. I got up to go to the bathroom and I could hear James talking to Connor while I was out of the room. So, I managed to sneak back in the room to see what James was talking to Connor about and found that he had climbed up on the couch and was "reading" Connor a book. While Connor slept through the whole thing I still thought it was adorable. James continues to love Connor and be so gentle with him!

2 weeks old

The first two weeks since Connor was born have flown by!! He is growing like a crazy. He went to the doctor and has grown almost a half an inch and weighs 8.4 lbs. When we came home from the hospital he weighed 7.5 lbs so he has gained almost a pound. He is a great eater and is still sleeping all the time. He has been a very calm and laid back baby. James is still wild about him!

Who knew a mobile was so entertaining?

I put Connor in his bed the other day and turned his mobile on so I could start a load of laundry. James instantly needed to be in the bed with him. They both laid there and watched the mobile for at least 10 minutes. I thought that it might work the next day too but James informed me that laying in that bed and looking at the mobile was for babies. So, I guess I will just be glad that I got 10 minutes to get something done!

A moment in history...

Regardless of your political views you cannot deny that last Tuesday was a moment in history. Katie gave me the great idea of taking the boys picture by the TV. So, here is how we will remember this moment in history....Connor slept through it and James has on Spiderman underwear because he refused to put pants on. I'm glad I got the picture anyway!

"Aunt" Katie

Katie came last weekend to visit James and meet Connor. James loved every minute of her stay and woke her up at 7 every morning. She played with him nonstop and he followed her all over the house. Connor got plenty of love from her too because she held him the whole time. It was great to have her here for me to because it was nice to have some "girl" time in my house of boys! I have a picture from her visit but can't get it to upload correctly. I think I might be getting worse at this blog thing! But, Katie, thank you so much for coming and Jason, you need to move closer!!

Connor

It is official, we are a family of 4. Connor was born Wednesday, January 7th. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is a healthy little boy that has been a wonderful addition to our family. James has been a great big brother and is very excited about Connor. We could not have asked for him to be any more excited and sweet. I'm sure that some of that will wear off, but for right now, I love watching James run in to see Connor every morning and give him a kiss. Hope you enjoy the pictures of my boys!

Connor - 1 week old!

Here is a short video of Connor with his eyes open. If you listen carefully you might hear one of his little noises!

1 week old

The first week of Connor"s life has flown by! He is eating well, gaining weight, ans sleeping good!

A touch of jaundice.

Connor has a little jaundice so his doctor told us to put him in the sun a couple of times a day. I was holding him and said that he didn't like the sun in his eyes. James ran into his bedroom and came running out with his sunglasses for Connor.

My boys!

After bribing James, I finally got him to hold Connor. This is the one and only time that he has held him since Connor was born. I asked him why he didn't want to hold Connor and he said, "Because I'm too strong for Connor." He has been very helpful and tells Connor all about his toys and things going on. We were sitting in bed the other night and he told Chad and I, "I really like Connor a lot."

Our little astronaut

I can't get this picture to rotate but I had to add it anyway. James is really into space and astronauts right now. He loves his new helmet!!

Going Home!!

After waiting for what seemed like forever on Friday we got to go home. Connor put on his fancy outfit and off we went. We were ready to get out of the hospital and James was ready to get home!

Just hanging out!

James relaxing at the hospital.

First family photo

James meets Connor!

James was VERY excited to meet Connor. He wasn't really sure what to say but he smiled the whole time. We thought that he would have something funny to say but he really just looked at him, touched his head, and gave him a kiss. He was very sweet~

Merry Christmas!!

We had a very exciting Christmas with James this year. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on but he thought that it was fun. Everything from the tree to the gifts to the music excited him. It made Christmas so much more exciting for all of us.
This will be our last post as a family of three so keep checking back to see when the newest Allison arrives. We are all getting excited and even James wants to know when the baby is going to be here. We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a happy and healthy 2009!!

The Chainsaw

All James wanted for Christmas was a chainsaw. He wasn't sure what he was going to do with it but here is a video of one of the many things that he has been sawing.

Christmas morning

Cookies for Santa!

Pure excitement!!

This is pretty much how James looked after every present that he opened or helped someone open. He was so funny! This was after he helped Bampaw open his chapstick that James picked out.

Zoo Lights

Project with daddy

James is into "projects" so Chad thought that they could make a gingerbread train together. After James stopped eating the candy they ended up with a great train.

Huge helper!

James loved helping with Christmas cookies this year. I decided that he could be in charge of the sprinkles for the chocolate covered pretzels. It didn't take long to run out of sprinkles but he had a fun, the pretzels tasted great, and they looked good too.

James loved Santa Claus!

This was the first Santa that James saw this year. He walked right up to him and climbed right on his lap. The second Santa that he saw he practically jumped onto his lap. He told both of them that all he wanted was a chainsaw.

Getting ready for Christmas and the baby...

We have been busy getting ready for the holidays and the baby. James is VERY excited about Christmas this year. He loves all the lights and says, "Wow, look at that!" when he sees a house all lit up. He also likes to move the ornaments all around the Christmas tree.

We have always thought that James is a pretty funny little boy. He is interested in airplanes, helicopters (like Uncle Greg flies), and space this year. He is also still into tools. This year for Christmas all he wants is a chainsaw. That's right, a chainsaw. He walked right up to Santa, climbed on his lap, and said, "I want a chainsaw."

Things are going well with the pregnancy as well. I am 37 weeks and the baby is growing well. He/she is on the move all the time. James is starting to get excited about being a big brother. We hope that continues once the baby is here!

We hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I PROMISE to post some pictures of Christmas!!

First shaving lesson...

James found an early Xmas present the other day and had to open it right then. He was very excited to find his first shaving set, just like daddy's inside.

Best Buddies

Christmas tree farm with the Allisons

The day after Thanksgiving we went to the Xmas tree farm with Chad's family. James loved riding the horse drawn wagon.

Let the racing begin....

Last year for Xmas James wanted a lawnmower. So, over the summer and throughout the fall the lawnmower has gotten many hours of use and James has turned into a pretty good driver. He usually doesn't hit the tree but as you can see he was very into racing Chad on the big mower.
